It’s been a bit over a month, and we’ve been working hard on adding new features to WooCart.

What’s new?

The WordPress command line interface is a very powerful tool. Usually used by advanced users, it can also be enormously helpful to users willing to learn a few basic commands.

For example: if a plugin completely breaks your WordPress installation, the easiest way to get it back online is to use WP-CLI to disable the offending plugin. All you need to enter in the command line is:

$ wp plugin deactivate offending-plugin-slug

Graphs Tab

We’ve added another tool that will help you troubleshoot your stores. You can open the Graphs tab and it will show you the CPU and memory usage for both the webserver and MySQL. If these spike, you’ll want to check other logs to see what’s up.

File System Access

Some Early Adopters mentioned they require file system access. While we strongly discourage the editing of files directly on the file system, we see there are some use cases where it’s needed. Therefore, until we set up the access through FTP (or similar), we have allowed the plugin File Manager that grants you access to the file system.

Bug Fixes

There were quite a few bug fixes done. One of them was the showing of duplicate orders and sales on the Overview tab.

Showcase Store Configuration

When you run our Wizard, we want you to be able to create a store that comes with a preconfigured theme and graphics. We call this a Showcase store and it can be a good base if you’re starting from scratch. We’ve been working on configuring the store and creating graphics for it.

Coming Soon

  • Showcase Store in the Wizard: the showcase store is now configured but we need to add a checkbox in the Wizard so that you can install it.
  • Plugin Usage: don’t you hate it when your store is slow but you can’t find the culprit? No more! This new Tab will show you which of your plugins are hogging the resources so you can troubleshoot them, or find an alternative plugin.
  • Slow Pages: similar to Plugin Usage, we’ll also show you the slowest loading pages on your store.
  • Updated Website: we’ve been so busy building features that we haven’t had the time to show them off! The updated website will have a nice overview of features already in WooCart, and also a few features still in the works.
