Special Day was built by Rosvaldas and sells products for birthdays, Valentine's day, Christmas, and other special occasions. He was hosting the store on a VPS with a local Lithuanian host but, unfortunately, still saw performance issues.
By moving to Google Cloud server, and improving the theme, the load time decreased from 4.41s to just 2.17s. It could be improved further but Rosvaldas had requirements for a complex installation. Nonetheless, a 50% improvement is nothing to sneeze at!
WooCart has been above what I expected. I've spent so much time looking for an affordable solution, that will allow me to create a lightning speed WooCommerce store with quite a few plugins that make the store more attractive. I also tested the leading local and global hosting providers and found what I thought was a solution. I knew WooCart launched and is going to be around soon, but didn't want to do move before they proved to be better than my current server. And... my experience since I decided to test them out is unbelievable!
- They asked what I want to do with my store in the long term so they can see if they can do anything to help me build what I need.
- They got me a new theme and helped me move 500+ products along with their descriptions (my previous theme had irregular description taxonomies).
- When the new theme was activated, they helped me fix everything I had set up on the old one.
- They did speed optimizations so the store runs smoothly. They fixed bugs and errors as well as recommended which plugins to use or not to use.
WooCart has a fantastic service to offer to those, who are looking for a lightning speed WooCommerce store solution. With the hard work and perfect support they already do for their customers, this team is going to change how WooCommerce is being used.
I wish WooCart launched earlier, they would have saved me a lot of time!
Kudos to Woocart!
The first step was migrating the store to WooCart's Google Cloud servers. While the tests showed there was a significant improvement, it was clear that the issues go far deeper than just the server.
Rosvaldas had some bad luck choosing the theme. It was extremely slow for mobile, and it saved additional product descriptions in the theme itself, instead of using the default WooCommerce fields. To future-proof the store, we've helped Rosvaldas move it to a different theme that significantly decreased the page load while adhering to the WordPress Codex for metadata.
We also took an in-depth look into the plugins. We found two very problematic plugins that were crashing the server under specific conditions. We disabled them which immensely decreased the load time. Afterward, Rosvaldas sent the authors a bugfix request.
Note: after moving to WooCart, Rosvaldas decided to change his business model away from eCommerce and doesn't host the site with us anymore.
